Scatter Plot Story Analysis

Where is the Scatterplot Story Analysis Useful?

  • Regression Analysis - call out relationships between two measures to identify impact
  • Identify Outliers - more easily understand outliers above and below thresholds
  • Distribution - read analytics on how your data is distributed

Scatterplot Story Requirements

Narratives for Tableau has support for the following scenarios of scatterplot analysis

  • Single dimension and either two or three measures

The example below is a scatterplot with two measures. For narrative generation, the first measure when you select measures will be treated as the independent variable and the second will be the dependent variable.

The example below is a scatterplot with three measures. For narrative generation, when you set up your measures, the first would be the 'x', the second would be the 'y' and the third would be the 'z'. In the example below, days to ship would be the 'z'.
